Karachi women thrash suspect after he allegedly stole their mobile phones in a shocking job scam. The incident unfolded on Tuesday when the accused, named Babar, appeared before a judicial magistrate in Malir. Several angry women who claimed to be victims immediately surrounded him outside the court. They slapped him hard and hit him with their slippers in full public view.

Police had arrested Babar the previous day. Officers recovered multiple mobile phones from his possession. The investigating officer informed the court that more devices still needed to be recovered. He also said the suspect’s alleged accomplices remained at large. The magistrate granted police a one-day physical remand so the investigation could continue.

According to the case details, the trouble started on October 1. Babar allegedly contacted nearly 60 women and offered them attractive job opportunities. He invited them to a farmhouse located in Karachi’s Gadap area. Once the women arrived, he collected their mobile phones under some pretext and then fled with the devices. Many of the victims later gathered at the court when they learned the suspect would be produced. Their frustration boiled over the moment they saw him.

Local police confirmed that the recovered phones matched several complaints already registered. Officers continue to search for other individuals who may have helped in the scam. The women who attended the court hearing expressed relief that the main suspect was finally in custody, yet they demanded faster recovery of their phones and stronger action against anyone involved.

This case highlights how job-related fraud continues to target vulnerable people in the city. Many of the affected women said they had travelled long distances after receiving promises of employment. The sudden loss of their mobile phones left them distressed and disconnected. Authorities have urged citizens to remain careful when responding to unsolicited job offers, especially those that require personal devices or visits to isolated locations.

The one-day remand gives investigators a short window to dig deeper. Police plan to re-examine the farmhouse site and question additional witnesses. Meanwhile, the images of women publicly confronting the suspect have drawn wide attention across the city. Residents continue to discuss the incident and call for better protection against similar phone snatching and job-related scams.
