Karachi gunpoint harassment has sparked serious concern after a disturbing video went viral on social media. The footage appears to show armed men moving through different parts of Defence Housing Authority and openly threatening people. In the clip, men sitting in a car wave firearms at passers-by while one masked individual points a weapon directly at pedestrians and mocks them.

Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar reacted quickly. He has asked the DIG South to submit a detailed report on the matter. The minister instructed police to identify every person visible in the video and stressed that anyone using weapons to frighten ordinary citizens must face the law. He also ordered a complete inquiry to check whether the video is genuine and to find out exactly when and where the incidents took place.

The video has spread rapidly across platforms, leaving many residents of DHA and nearby areas worried about their safety. People in the footage can be seen looking startled as the men threaten them without any apparent reason. Such open display of weapons in a busy residential zone has raised questions about security arrangements in one of Karachi’s most prominent neighbourhoods.

Police have not yet confirmed the identities of the men or announced any arrests. Authorities are examining the material carefully. The minister made it clear that if the claims prove true, strict legal action will follow. He directed officers to treat the case with urgency so that citizens feel protected in their own streets.

This incident highlights ongoing challenges with street-level intimidation in the city. Residents have expressed hope that the investigation will move fast and that those responsible will be held accountable. For now, the focus remains on verifying the video and ensuring no one is allowed to terrorise people with firearms in public spaces.

The home minister’s prompt response signals that the provincial government is taking the matter seriously. Further updates are expected once the DIG South submits the required report and police complete their initial findings.
