Karachi Police have achieved a significant breakthrough in the Dr Akash murder case by arresting three suspects allegedly involved in the robbery and fatal shooting of a young doctor near Teen Talwar in Clifton. The arrests were confirmed by South Deputy Inspector General Asad Raza, who stated that the suspects were taken into custody from the jurisdiction of the Defence police station after an intensive investigation.

The tragic incident took place on Monday when 28 year old Dr Akash Kumar was reportedly shot while resisting a robbery attempt outside a private bank. According to investigators, the accused had carefully planned the crime before carrying it out. Police revealed that the suspects reached the location on two motorcycles, while another vehicle was also used to assist in the operation.

DIG Asad Raza explained that one of the suspects had conducted surveillance around the bank before the robbery. After gathering information about the victim’s arrival, he informed his accomplices, allowing them to execute their plan. Investigators worked around the clock and successfully traced the suspects by reviewing more than 100 CCTV recordings collected from various locations. Within 24 hours, police identified key evidence, and the arrests were completed during the following 36 hours.

Authorities also confirmed that part of the stolen cash had been recovered during the operation. Officials believe the investigation is progressing rapidly, and additional evidence is being collected to strengthen the case.

Speaking separately on Geo Pakistan, Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho stated that two more suspects have already been identified and are expected to be arrested soon. He praised the role of CCTV surveillance in helping investigators solve the case within a short period.

The police chief also highlighted improvements in Karachi’s security situation. He said the Safe City Project has completed its first phase with around 1,150 surveillance cameras installed, while the second phase is nearly complete. According to official statistics, street crime has declined by 11.8% during the first six months of the year, while security conditions in areas such as Defence have improved following the installation of modern surveillance systems.
