Millions of users around the world faced major disruptions as Yahoo and AOL suffered a large-scale service outage, leaving email and website access unavailable for hours. The incident, which began early Wednesday morning, triggered frustration across social media as users reported being locked out of their accounts without warning.

The Yahoo AOL outage reportedly started around 9:30 am Eastern Time, when users began encountering repeated login failures. Many were shown an error message stating “Too many requests”, a sign that experts believe points toward a backend server or network infrastructure failure. As the issue spread, access to Yahoo Mail, AOL Mail, and several related services became unreliable or completely unavailable.

Outage tracking platform Downdetector quickly recorded a sharp surge in complaints. By 10:12 am, more than 17,000 reports had been logged for Yahoo services alone. Of these, over 8,000 complaints were specifically related to Yahoo Mail, while AOL services recorded more than 4,700 outage reports. The data highlighted the scale of the disruption and confirmed that the issue was widespread rather than limited to a specific region.

Despite the growing number of complaints, neither Yahoo nor AOL issued an official statement explaining the cause of the outage or providing an estimated timeline for restoration. Users who contacted support were reportedly asked to send direct messages, but no detailed technical clarification was offered publicly.

The lack of communication added to user frustration, especially for those who rely on Yahoo and AOL email services for business, personal communication, and account verification. Many users were advised to remain patient and monitor official company pages for updates while engineers worked to restore services.

This outage follows a series of recent global internet disruptions, including problems at X, formerly known as Twitter, and Cloudflare, both of which caused widespread service interruptions for businesses and online platforms worldwide. These repeated incidents have raised concerns about the resilience of major digital infrastructure.

As services gradually recover, users are encouraged to stay informed through verified channels and avoid repeated login attempts that could further strain systems during restoration.
