Pakistan all-rounder Khushdil Shah has strongly dismissed reports claiming he plans to quit national cricket. The 31-year-old called the rumours “fake news” and “completely untrue” in a clear message shared on his Instagram stories.
Shah, who debuted for Pakistan in November 2019, has played 15 ODIs and 38 T20Is so far. His last appearance came during the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup last year, where he featured in just one match against the UAE and scored four runs. He was later dropped from the side and has remained out of the national team for several months.
The speculation began after an old interview with fellow all-rounder Abbas Afridi resurfaced online. In that conversation, Afridi claimed Shah had told him he only had about four months left and would leave Pakistan cricket if he did not receive a call-up by then. The comments quickly spread on social media and fuelled talk that Shah was ready to end his international career.
Responding firmly, Shah wrote: “There’s fake news going around claiming I’m leaving Pakistan cricket and it’s completely untrue.” He added that Pakistan is his home and representing the country has always been his top priority and greatest honour.
He urged fans not to believe the baseless reports and stressed that his commitment to Pakistan cricket has never changed and never will. The statement aims to end the unnecessary controversy surrounding his prolonged absence from the national side.
Shah’s clarification comes at a time when many players face pressure over selection and form. By speaking out directly, the all-rounder has reaffirmed his loyalty to the Green Shirts and his desire to return to the national team whenever the opportunity arises.
