Just 50 days before the highly anticipated kickoff, Fifa has announced that a fresh batch of World Cup tickets will go on sale this Wednesday. This release covers all 104 matches of the tournament, which is set to be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. According to the sport’s governing body, these tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 1500 GMT, providing a golden opportunity for fans who missed out in earlier rounds.
Fifa President Gianni Infantino recently revealed that over five million tickets have already been sold, shattering previous records. The current demand has already surpassed the 3.5 million tickets sold during the 1994 World Cup, which was also held in the US. With 16 stadiums hosting the 2026 edition, organizers expect a total of approximately seven million tickets to be made available. Fifa also confirmed that additional tickets will continue to be released periodically right up until the final on July 19, depending on availability.
Despite the excitement, the organization has faced significant criticism regarding sky-high prices. Some premium tickets for the final have reportedly surpassed the $10,000 mark, excluding the secondary resale market. Organizers have defended these costs by pointing to a dynamic pricing strategy, which adjusts prices based on the “crazy” levels of global demand. While some reports suggested lagging sales for the United States opening match against Paraguay, Fifa spokespeople have dismissed these claims, insisting that international recognition and interest for all matches remain incredibly strong.
As the countdown to June 11 continues, the release of this new batch is expected to spark a digital frenzy. For fans looking to witness history, the message from the sport’s governing body is clear: act fast to secure a spot at the world’s biggest sporting event.
