Security forces in South Waziristan have hit back hard after Afghan Taliban posts opened unprovoked fire on Pakistani positions. The incident took place in the Angoor Adda area where border posts came under repeated attack from across the border.
South Waziristan Lower Deputy Commissioner shared the update on Sunday. He said Afghan border posts kept firing on Pakistani posts without any reason. Security forces responded at once and with full force. They targeted several Afghan border posts, mortar positions and defensive setups. The strong reply forced Afghan Taliban personnel to leave their posts and run away.
No casualties have been reported on the Pakistani side so far. The deputy commissioner confirmed that security forces stay fully ready to deal with any further aggression. The latest exchange follows another serious incident that happened only a few days earlier.
On the night of October 27, Afghan Taliban forces fired on civilian houses and Angoor Adda Bazaar without any provocation. A mortar shell hit a residential house and killed one civilian while injuring five other people. Several shops in the busy bazaar also suffered damage. In response, Pakistani security forces carried out a retaliatory operation and destroyed multiple Afghan Taliban checkposts across the border.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting later confirmed that Pakistani forces had destroyed seven Afghan Taliban posts during that operation. These repeated incidents have raised serious concerns about border security.
Islamabad has again urged the Afghan Taliban authorities to stop militant groups, especially the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, from using Afghan soil to plan and launch attacks inside Pakistan. Officials say such unprovoked firing and cross-border attacks cannot be tolerated.
Local residents in the Angoor Adda area remain on edge after the recent violence. Many hope that stronger border control and better coordination will prevent further loss of civilian lives and property. Security forces continue to maintain a high state of alert along the sensitive border stretches.
The situation remains tense but under control for now as Pakistani troops stay prepared to protect the area against any fresh provocation from across the border.
