Sialkot Stampede during a popular TikToker’s mehndi ceremony has left the city in shock after two people lost their lives and many others were hurt. The tragic incident took place on Saturday evening at Faraz Sports Stadium on Daska Road when a large crowd gathered for the celebration.
According to rescue officials, the rush of people trying to enter or move closer to the stage caused a sudden stampede. Fourteen people were injured on the spot. One person died the same night while another injured victim passed away on Sunday, raising the death toll to two. Families of the victims are still grieving and demanding justice.
Police moved quickly and registered a formal case. Eight people have been named in the complaint along with 45 unidentified individuals. Six suspects have already been arrested. However, the main suspect remains at large and efforts are continuing to catch him. Officers said the investigation is focused on how such a large crowd was allowed to gather without proper safety arrangements.
Defence Minister Khawaja Asif strongly condemned the incident. He alleged that the TikToker known as “Patlu” had announced expensive prizes and cash rewards to pull in a bigger audience. According to the minister, these prizes were used as a way to gain more views and earnings on social media platforms. He said the event took advantage of the financial struggles of local people and ultimately cost two lives while injuring dozens more. Asif also claimed that the TikToker is currently absconding and using influence to avoid legal action.
The minister further raised concerns about unregulated social media activities. He questioned whether current tax laws properly cover the high earnings of online influencers and called for stronger accountability so that similar tragedies can be prevented in the future.
Local residents who attended the mehndi ceremony described scenes of panic as people pushed and fell over one another. Many are now urging authorities to set clearer rules for large public gatherings linked to social media personalities. The case remains under investigation while the community continues to mourn the loss of two lives in what should have been a joyful occasion.
