The military’s top spokesperson, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, made it clear that Pakistan has both the power and the clear plan to make the Taliban pay a heavy price if threats continue. Speaking to Reuters, the ISPR DG said the Taliban regime simply does not have the ability to absorb the punishment Pakistan can impose.

He explained that whatever drones or other tools the Taliban try to use, those capabilities are not their own. They come from outside sponsors. Pakistan has already shown it can handle sophisticated drones. During the earlier conflict with India, dozens of advanced drones were sent across the border, and Pakistani forces destroyed them completely. The army has only grown stronger and more ready since then.

The ISPR DG directly accused the Afghan Taliban of harbouring terrorist leaders and allowing armed groups to operate freely from Afghan territory against Pakistan. He said terrorist groups are crossing the border with weapons supplied from Afghanistan. In some cases, even Afghan citizens and members of the Taliban regime have been found taking part in attacks inside Pakistan.

Pakistan is not looking to isolate Afghanistan. The country continues to talk with Kabul. All Islamabad asks is that the Taliban act like a real government and stop supporting terrorism. “If you do it, then there will be a cost,” the spokesperson warned. Pakistan has the capability and a clear strategy to impose that cost.

He rejected claims that Pakistan hosts anti-Taliban groups. Instead, he said Afghanistan is currently producing only two things that harm the region and the world: terrorism and drugs. The international community and neighbouring countries should engage the Taliban and push them to behave responsibly rather than leave them alone.

On modern warfare, the ISPR DG stressed that the Pakistan Army is fully technology-savvy. It is adapting to new threats that include drones, cyber tools, and other non-contact methods. While he would not share operational details about artificial intelligence or other advanced systems, he confirmed that the military is using every available technology to stay ahead.

Pakistan remains firm. The message to the Afghan Taliban is simple and direct: stop the cross-border terrorism or face the consequences Pakistan is fully prepared to deliver.
