Pakistan’s security forces have killed two militants, including an Afghan national, during a successful counter terrorism operation in Mohmand district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The operation was conducted on June 4 as part of ongoing efforts to eliminate militant networks and strengthen security in border regions.

According to security sources, one of the militants was identified as Umar Bilal, a resident of Khost province, Afghanistan. Officials said the deceased militant was carrying an Afghan identity card along with foreign currency, modern weapons, ammunition, and a suicide vest. The recovery of these items has further raised concerns about the involvement of foreign militants in terrorist activities inside Pakistan.

Security officials stated that the operation was intelligence based and aimed at targeting individuals linked to extremist groups operating near the Pakistan Afghanistan border. The successful action reflects the continued commitment of security forces to dismantle terrorist infrastructure and prevent future attacks.

The operation comes at a time when Pakistan has intensified its campaign against terrorism. Just a day earlier, Pakistani forces conducted precision strikes against militant hideouts and safe havens along the Afghan border. According to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, those operations resulted in the deaths of at least 26 militants involved in planning and facilitating attacks inside Pakistan.

Authorities said the recent actions were taken following several major terrorist incidents, including attacks on a Federal Constabulary post in Musa Dara, a military installation in North Waziristan, and a police station in Bannu.

Since 2021, Pakistan has experienced a noticeable increase in terrorism related incidents, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Security agencies have repeatedly warned that militant groups continue to exploit border areas to organize and launch attacks.

Officials emphasized that counter terrorism operations will continue across the country. The government remains committed to protecting citizens, securing borders, and eliminating all threats to national peace and stability.
