A terrorist attack in Mashkel, a town in Balochistan’s Washuk district, claimed the lives of five labourers after armed attackers opened fire at a local shop on Sunday. According to security sources, the victims were targeted by terrorists while they were present at the location, triggering immediate security measures in the area.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Bilal, Mohammad Hussain, Mohammad Qadeer, Mohsin, and Bilal. Police officials stated that all five workers had travelled from outside Balochistan for employment. After completing legal formalities, the bodies were sent to their hometowns for burial.

Following the incident, security forces sealed off the area and launched a search operation to locate those responsible for the attack. Authorities have also initiated a formal investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti strongly condemned the killings, describing the attack on unarmed labourers as another example of terrorists targeting innocent civilians. He stated that the objective of such groups is to create fear, spread hatred, and undermine Pakistan’s stability. The chief minister reaffirmed that the government’s response against elements challenging the state’s authority would become even more decisive.

Provincial government spokesperson Shahid Rind also denounced the attack and confirmed that the government had ordered a thorough investigation. He assured the families of the victims that those responsible would be brought to justice and that the provincial administration stood with them during this difficult time.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. He described the attack as an extremely barbaric and cowardly act, adding that such crimes against humanity deserve no leniency. The prime minister reiterated that these attacks would not weaken Pakistan’s determination to eliminate terrorism and protect the lives and property of its citizens.

The attack comes as security operations continue across Balochistan, with law enforcement agencies intensifying efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and improve security throughout the province.
