Karachi is likely to receive rain as the Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a fresh rain forecast for several parts of the country. A westerly wave combined with moist currents from the Arabian Sea will bring widespread weather activity from June 16 to 20, according to the Met Office.
The PMD advisory warns that scattered dust storms, windstorms, and rain with thunderstorms are expected in many cities. In Punjab, cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, and Bahawalpur may experience isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms. Sindh will also see activity, with Karachi and surrounding areas likely to get dust storms accompanied by light rain during this period.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, districts such as Peshawar, Swat, Dir, and Chitral are expected to witness rain with thunderstorms and possible heavy falls. Similar weather is forecasted for parts of Balochistan including Quetta, while Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will also receive rain and thunderstorms from mid-week onward.
The Met Office has issued important warnings regarding this Karachi rain forecast and nationwide weather change. Strong windstorms may damage weak structures, solar panels, billboards, and electric poles. There is also a risk of landslides in vulnerable hilly areas of upper KP, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Urban flooding is possible in low-lying areas of major cities like Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Faisalabad.
Farmers have been advised to manage their crops carefully according to the changing conditions. Tourists and travelers are urged to avoid unnecessary travel, especially in mountainous regions, and stay updated with the latest alerts. The department expects occasional gaps in rainfall but overall wet and windy conditions across many regions.
This weather system brings much-needed relief from the summer heat but also requires caution from the public. Residents in Karachi and other cities should prepare for possible disruptions in daily routines due to rain and strong winds.
