Residents of Karachi experienced the coldest night of the ongoing winter season on Monday, with temperatures falling to 6 degrees Celsius in the Jinnah Terminal area, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).
The Met Office reported that the average minimum temperature across the city was 8.1°C. Areas including Sharea Faisal and Gulistan-e-Jauhar recorded lows of 9°C, while Mauripur saw 10°C and Bin Qasim recorded 10.5°C.
The PMD said cold and dry weather is expected to prevail across most districts of Sindh over the next few days. Officials added that the intensity of the cold spell is likely to continue for another two days.
According to the Met Office, westerly winds are expected to affect upper parts of the country from January 18 to January 20, increasing the likelihood of rain in Karachi and other parts of Sindh during this period.
After the departure of the westerly system, another cold wave may impact Sindh, including Karachi, the PMD warned. The department also noted that Pakistan recorded 34% less rainfall than average in December 2025.
Meanwhile, moderate to dense fog is expected to persist in several districts, including Sukkur, Rohri, Shikarpur, Kashmore, Shaheed Benazirabad, Dadu, Larkana, Tando Jam and Mohenjodaro, affecting visibility in surrounding areas.
Across Sindh, Mithi recorded the lowest temperature at 0°C. Other cold spots included Chhor (2°C), Mohenjo-Daro (2.5°C), and Dadu, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas and Sukkur (3°C).
Jacobabad and Shaheed Benazirabad recorded minimum temperatures of 4°C, while Larkana reported 3°C. Hyderabad experienced a low of 5.3°C, with Badin at 7.5°C and Thatta at 8°C.
