Pakistan has confirmed that Iran has officially responded to a United States peace proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. The development marks an important step in diplomatic efforts to restore stability in the region.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the update during a ceremony in Islamabad. He said that Field Marshal Asim Munir informed him that Pakistan had received Tehran’s response. However, the prime minister did not disclose the details of Iran’s reply.
According to Iranian state media, the response was sent through Pakistan, which is playing a key role as a mediator between Iran and the United States. At this stage, Iran’s focus is primarily on securing a formal end to the war before discussions begin on more sensitive matters, including its nuclear programme.
The proposed agreement from Washington seeks to establish a ceasefire and reduce tensions across the Gulf region. Despite a month-old truce, security concerns remain high as several Gulf countries reported sightings of hostile drones over the weekend.
The conflict has significantly disrupted shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil routes. Any prolonged instability in this corridor could affect global energy prices and economic growth.
International leaders are urging both sides to reach a peaceful settlement as soon as possible. Pakistan’s mediation efforts have received growing attention, with officials expressing hope that diplomacy will help prevent further escalation and restore peace in the Middle East.
