Islamabad’s Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has dropped the contempt proceedings against Adiala Jail officials after the jail administration signed the legal powers of attorney for human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband Hadi Ali Chattha. The issue had caused significant tension over recent days, as lawyers alleged that jail officials were intentionally delaying the signing of key legal documents.
Presiding Judge Tahir Abbas Supra directed the jail administration to establish clear and transparent legal procedures. He strictly instructed the Adiala Jail superintendent to formulate new, unambiguous rules regarding the signing of a power of attorney between inmates and their legal counsel.
