Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed their strong partnership during high level talks in Beijing, highlighting what both leaders described as an “unyielding” alliance between China and Russia. The meeting came just days after former US President Donald Trump visited China without securing major diplomatic achievements.

During the talks at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, Xi said that China and Russia had continued to deepen their strategic coordination, political trust, and economic cooperation despite growing international challenges. Putin also praised the relationship, calling it stronger than ever and resistant to outside pressure.

One of the major topics discussed was the growing global energy crisis following tensions in the Middle East and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. Russia is reportedly looking to strengthen energy exports to China as global oil and gas supplies remain unstable. Analysts believe Putin may push for progress on the proposed Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline, which would transport Russian natural gas to China through Mongolia.

The meeting also highlighted changing global alliances as countries respond to increasing geopolitical uncertainty. China has recently welcomed several world leaders as nations attempt to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with Beijing.

Although China has called for peace talks regarding the Ukraine conflict, it has maintained close economic relations with Russia. Beijing continues to position itself as a neutral player while avoiding direct criticism of Moscow.

On the Middle East conflict, Xi stressed that a comprehensive ceasefire is urgently needed and warned against escalating tensions further. China remains highly dependent on open international trade routes and stable energy supplies, making regional stability a major priority for Beijing.

Experts say both leaders see their relationship as more stable and reliable than current China US ties. The latest meeting signals that cooperation between the two powers will likely continue to grow in energy, trade, and global diplomacy in the coming years.
