Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has commended Bank of Punjab President Zafar Masud for his remarkable contributions to Pakistan’s banking and financial sector during an interactive gathering in New York.
The event was organized by the Pakistani-American community and hosted at the residence of prominent businessman and community leader Dr. Abid Sheikh. The gathering brought together community members, professionals, and business leaders to engage in a meaningful discussion with Zafar Masud about leadership, resilience, and personal growth.
During the session, Ambassador Sheikh and Consul General Aamer Ahmed Atozai appreciated Masud’s ability to transform one of the most challenging experiences of his life into a source of inspiration for others. They highlighted how his journey has motivated countless individuals to face adversity with courage and determination.
Zafar Masud, one of only two survivors of the tragic PIA Flight 8303 crash in 2020, shared valuable insights from his professional career and discussed important themes from his widely recognized book, “Seat 1C.” He spoke about the significance of resilience, purposeful leadership, and maintaining a positive outlook during difficult times.
The Bank of Punjab president emphasized that life’s toughest challenges often provide the greatest lessons. He encouraged participants to focus on personal growth, gratitude, and meaningful leadership while navigating professional and personal obstacles.
Addressing the audience, Dr. Abid Sheikh praised Masud’s distinguished career in Pakistan’s financial industry and described “Seat 1C” as a powerful account of perseverance, leadership, and purpose. He noted that the book offers lessons that extend beyond the circumstances of the aircraft tragedy and can benefit individuals from all walks of life.
The event also recognized the important role played by the Pakistani-American community in strengthening relations between Pakistan and the United States while promoting a positive image of Pakistan abroad.
The session concluded with an engaging question-and-answer segment, followed by informal discussions between Zafar Masud and community members, providing attendees with an opportunity to gain further insights from his experiences and leadership journey.
