Trump also claimed he had settled eight wars in total. The warm remarks toward Pakistan and its prime minister came as part of a wide-ranging address that touched on several global issues.
On the ongoing conflict with Iran, Trump repeated that he faces a major choice. He asked whether a deal could allow Iran to rebuild into a stronger nation or whether he should move quickly to annihilate the Islamic Republic so it can never again threaten others. Trump also criticised Mexico as the centre of cartel violence and said his administration was working toward major changes regarding Cuba. He renewed long-standing criticism of the United Nations bureaucracy and made clear that US service members would never face investigation by the International Criminal Court.
