Pakistan’s role in the US-Iran peace deal was driven by the goal of achieving regional peace and stability, security officials said, adding that Field Marshal Asim Munir was not seeking publicity or political recognition through diplomatic efforts.
According to senior security officials, Pakistan handled the Iran-US situation as a highly sensitive and complex matter while maintaining its position as a mediator. They said Islamabad’s priority was to reduce tensions and support long-term stability in the region rather than engage in headline diplomacy.
The officials stated that the international community was gradually acknowledging Pakistan’s contribution to diplomatic efforts. They highlighted that Pakistan’s balanced relations with Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United States allowed it to communicate effectively with all sides involved in the conflict.
They also credited regional countries, including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Egypt, and the UAE, for their efforts toward reducing tensions and supporting de-escalation. However, officials warned that some elements were still attempting to damage the progress made through diplomatic engagement.
Discussing Pakistan’s regional security concerns, officials said Islamabad continues to seek positive relations with Afghanistan while addressing challenges related to militancy. They revealed details about security operations and said counterterrorism efforts remain a major priority for the country.
On the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, security officials said matters would be handled according to constitutional procedures. They claimed that certain groups were attempting to disrupt normal activities and emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order.
Regarding the defence budget, officials said the allocated funds include major mandatory expenses, leaving limited space for development projects. They added that modern warfare increasingly depends on advanced technology and that security challenges require continuous investment.
The officials reiterated that Pakistan’s approach remains focused on protecting national interests, promoting regional cooperation, and supporting peace efforts through responsible diplomacy.
