Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has dismissed speculation about any immediate change in the provincial government, stating that he will continue to serve in his position until he receives fresh instructions from PTI founder Imran Khan.
Speaking to journalists in Rawalpindi, Afridi reiterated that his appointment as chief minister remains linked to the confidence placed in him by the party’s founding chairman. He recalled previous remarks attributed to Imran Khan, who reportedly said that no force could remove him from office as long as he remained the party’s preferred choice.
The statement comes at a time when reports of internal divisions within the Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have gained momentum. Political observers have pointed to growing disagreements among party lawmakers, with concerns emerging over the future leadership of the province. However, Afridi strongly rejected claims of a forward bloc within the party and described such reports as political propaganda designed to create confusion.
The chief minister also expressed concern about the health and welfare of the jailed PTI founder. He called on authorities to transfer Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital for medical treatment and requested that family members be allowed regular access to meet him.
Addressing provincial affairs, Afridi highlighted the government’s budget priorities and said the cabinet had approved the budget framework. According to him, the upcoming budget will focus on key sectors including health, education, agriculture, youth development, and environmental conservation. He maintained that the government is committed to public welfare and sustainable development across the province.
Meanwhile, PTI has established a six member committee led by senior party leader Asad Qaiser to resolve internal concerns and strengthen coordination between lawmakers, the parliamentary party, and the provincial government. The committee is expected to help reduce tensions and improve unity within the party’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chapter.
Afridi expressed confidence that the party would overcome its challenges and continue working toward its political objectives while maintaining stability in the province.
