Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation, increasing trade, improving regional connectivity, and expanding collaboration across multiple sectors during a high level meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov.
Speaking during delegation level talks in Kyrgyzstan, President Zardari highlighted the long standing friendship between the two countries, describing their relationship as one built on shared faith, cultural heritage, history, and mutual respect. He emphasized the importance of transforming these historic ties into stronger economic and strategic partnerships.
The president, who is on a four day official visit to Kyrgyzstan, proposed increasing bilateral trade by offering quality Pakistani products at competitive prices. He also stressed the need to improve transport links, including more direct flights, to promote business, tourism, and people to people exchanges.
This visit marks a historic milestone as it is the first official visit by a Pakistani president to Kyrgyzstan in 21 years. It follows President Sadyr Japarov’s successful visit to Pakistan in December 2025 and reflects the growing momentum in relations between the two countries.
President Zardari also congratulated Kyrgyzstan on its election as a non permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027 to 2028 term, calling it a recognition of the country’s positive contribution to international peace and cooperation.
President Sadyr Japarov reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Pakistan and expressed support for expanding cooperation in energy, agriculture, textiles, healthcare, information technology, education, tourism, science, mining, minerals, and the halal industry. He also reiterated his country’s commitment to the CASA 1000 energy project, which aims to improve regional energy connectivity.
Both leaders agreed that stronger cooperation and increased regional connectivity would contribute to economic growth, peace, and prosperity for both nations while creating new opportunities for trade, investment, and development across Central and South Asia.
