Pakistan secured a thrilling four-wicket win over arch-rivals India in their Group C match at the Hong Kong Sixes 2026 on Friday. The result kept Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the next round alive at Mission Road Ground in Mong Kok. This victory offered welcome relief after Pakistan suffered a narrow one-wicket loss to the United Arab Emirates earlier the same morning.
India batted first and were restricted to just 88 runs in their six overs. Shashank Singh led the Indian batting with a solid 40 off 11 balls, including two fours and five sixes. Nitish Rana made 19 off 14 deliveries with one four and two sixes, while T Natarajan stayed unbeaten on 12 off six balls. Rahul Tripathi scored nine, but Rahul Tewatia and captain Krunal Pandya both fell for first-ball ducks.
For Pakistan, Abdul Samad was the most successful bowler with figures of 2 for 10 in his only over. Ahmed Daniyal and Mohammad Shahzad also picked up a wicket each.
In reply, Pakistan started in explosive fashion. Captain Abbas Afridi smashed five consecutive sixes in the very first over bowled by Krunal Pandya, helping the side race to 31 runs. Khawaja Nafay then took over, hitting five boundaries in the second over from Natarajan as Pakistan crossed the 50-run mark with 28 runs from that over alone.
Shashank broke the opening stand by dismissing Afridi, who had scored a blistering 35 off just eight balls with one four and five sixes. Nafay continued the aggression and finished as the top scorer with 41 off 12 deliveries, featuring two fours and five sixes, before falling to Tewatia. Irfan Niazi sealed the chase in style by hitting a six off his first ball. Samad remained not out on seven off three balls, including a six, as Pakistan reached the target with four wickets in hand.
The win gives Pakistan valuable points and momentum in a competitive group. Fans will now look forward to their remaining matches as the Hong Kong Sixes 2026 continues to deliver high-octane cricket action.
