Natalie Harp, a close aide to US President Donald Trump, has attracted renewed public attention following comments made by Senator Jon Ossoff at a political rally in Atlanta on August 16.
Ossoff referred to Trump as wanting “ballroom and travel with Natalie,” drawing attention to Harp’s increasingly visible presence around the president. When Trump was later questioned about the remarks, he did not directly respond to the speculation and instead criticised a CNN reporter. The White House also condemned the question.
The controversy has placed a greater focus on Harp’s role and her close access to Trump. She first gained national attention in 2020 when she appeared at the Republican National Convention and described herself as a “formerly forgotten American from California.” During the event, she strongly praised Trump and compared him with the character George Bailey from the classic movie It’s a Wonderful Life.
Since then, Harp has moved deeper into Trump’s inner circle. She now serves as an executive assistant to the president, with an annual salary of $150,000.
Before taking on the official position, Harp reportedly helped Trump by organising and providing printed documents, briefings and other information. This work earned her the nickname “human printer.”
Harp, 35, studied at Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego and later completed an MBA at Liberty University. She has also spoken publicly about her support for Trump, including sharing a post about her experience as a bone cancer survivor and her belief that Trump could improve healthcare policy.
Since Trump returned to the White House, Harp has frequently appeared alongside him during official events and trips. In July, she was among a small group who travelled with Trump on a military aircraft after he changed planes while returning from Turkiye.
Ossoff’s remarks have now pushed Natalie Harp further into the spotlight, highlighting the rise of an aide who once worked mostly behind the scenes but now has a highly visible position close to the president.
