A United States missile strike struck a wedding celebration in southern Iran on Tuesday, killing four people including a young child and injuring more than fifty others, according to the Iranian Red Crescent.

The organization reported that shrapnel from the attack hit a residential home in the city of Kuhestak in Sirik county of Hormozgan province while a wedding was taking place. More than fifty people were wounded and four individuals, among them a child, lost their lives.

Video shared by an Iranian government account showed heavy debris and damage at the reported site in Sirik. Screams could be heard in the background of the footage. Earlier, a provincial official had reported two people killed and several others injured before the final figures were confirmed.

Sirik county lies along the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. The United States stated that its forces were targeting positions of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in response to recent attempts against commercial shipping in the strait and against American personnel in the region. It was not immediately clear what exact target was intended in Sirik county.

Iranian media reported explosions in several cities along and east of the Hormuz area as well as at an airport in southern Kerman province on the same day. The wider conflict between the United States and Iran has continued since late February, when earlier strikes killed Iran’s supreme leader and senior military officials. Iran responded with attacks across the region. After an intense opening phase that lasted nearly forty days, sporadic exchanges have continued mainly around the Hormuz waterway, reducing chances of a lasting peace agreement.

The Iran wedding strike has drawn strong reactions inside the country. Officials described the incident as another case of civilian harm during the ongoing hostilities. Rescue teams continue working at the damaged site while medical staff treat the large number of injured people.

This event adds to growing concerns about the impact of military actions near the Strait of Hormuz. Families and local communities in the coastal area face renewed fear after an attack on what should have been a joyful gathering.
