PTI has once again strongly demanded that its founder Imran Khan be moved to a proper hospital for medical care. The party insists that any treatment must take place with the full involvement of his personal doctors and family members.
At a press conference in Islamabad, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar made it clear that the party has raised this demand many times before. He said receiving the right medical treatment is Imran Khan’s basic right. Gohar pointed out that it was already admitted in the Supreme Court that the former prime minister’s blood pressure had gone up and that he was taking medicine. He added that PTI has not received any independent update about his present health condition.
The press conference took place only a few hours after Adiala Jail authorities submitted a report to the Supreme Court. According to the jail report, Imran Khan received treatment from senior eye specialists in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. One of his eyes has almost returned to normal. The same report also stated that the former prime minister and his wife meet every Tuesday under jail rules and that 84 such meetings have already taken place.
Barrister Gohar stressed that PTI does not want to turn the health of its founder into a political issue. At the same time, he demanded that Imran Khan’s family and personal doctors be given proper access. He said meetings with the former premier had been stopped for several months. Gohar noted that Aleema Khan and Imran’s other sisters have every right to meet him. He also said there is no rule that stops them from speaking after those meetings.
Calling on the authorities to end what he described as a “cat and mouse game,” Gohar asked that full access to Imran Khan be restored. He claimed that access has remained blocked since last October.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also shared serious concern about Imran’s health. He said a worrying report about the former prime minister’s condition had come out. Afridi announced that he would hold a detailed meeting with Imran’s personal doctor and then decide the party’s next steps.
Afridi recalled that whenever doctors Faisal and Asim examined Imran Khan, his blood pressure had always been normal. However, the latest official report showed a reading of 140/100. He questioned the accuracy of that figure and said Imran had never faced blood pressure problems in the past.
PTI leaders continue to press for transparent and proper medical treatment for their founder inside a hospital setting.
