Police sources in Rawalpindi say a domestic worker has confessed to his role in the death of Hina Javed, a married woman whose body was discovered at her home in the Lalkurti area. The worker, identified as Zeeshan, was already in custody along with the main suspect, Faisal Asghar, Hina’s husband of nine months.
According to investigators, Zeeshan told police he was present during a dispute between the couple. He admitted involvement in the events that led to Hina’s death and also confessed to stealing from the household on multiple occasions. Both men were produced before a local magistrate and placed on three day physical remand. Officers told the court that items believed linked to the crime had been recovered from the suspects.
Hina’s body was found in the bathroom of the house after her father in law contacted police claiming a break in. An investigation team led by SSP Investigation Saifullah is handling the case. The father of the main suspect has also been questioned and his statement recorded.
A post mortem examination conducted several hours after the discovery noted multiple injuries on the body. Samples were collected for forensic testing, including DNA, and sent to laboratories. Early reports stated that the exact cause of death could not be confirmed immediately.
The case reached the National Assembly, where Speaker Ayaz Sadiq described the killing as a matter of serious concern. He thanked the Women Caucus for raising the issue and directed the Human Rights and Interior committees to examine it. Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said he had contacted Punjab officials and police as soon as he learned of the incident. He assured the house that the matter would be pursued to its logical conclusion and that the government would fully support the committee process.
Hina Javed had worked on a project linked to parliament, a detail noted by the Speaker. The investigation continues under close scrutiny as authorities work to establish a clear sequence of events and hold those responsible to account.
