The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is exploring the possibility of sending the England cricket team on a historic tour of Nepal during the 2027 to 2031 Future Tours Programme cycle. If confirmed, England would become the biggest international cricket team ever to tour Nepal for a bilateral series.
According to reports, the proposed visit would likely feature a T20I series and could take place before one of England’s scheduled white ball tours in Asia. Cricket officials believe Nepal’s conditions could offer ideal preparation for subcontinent tournaments and series.
The discussions gained momentum after Nepal’s remarkable rise in international cricket over recent years. The national side recently earned global praise following a historic series victory against the West Indies in the UAE. Nepal has also impressed cricket fans with its fearless style of play against top ranked teams.
England and Nepal faced each other for the first time during the T20 World Cup earlier this year. The thrilling contest went down to the final ball before England secured victory. Despite the defeat, Nepal earned widespread admiration for pushing one of the world’s strongest teams to the limit.
Following that exciting encounter, Nepal captain and Cricket Association of Nepal official Paras Khadka reportedly held important talks with ECB representatives regarding the future growth of Nepal cricket and the possibility of international tours.
The ECB is currently working with several cricket boards to finalize the international calendar for the next cycle. However, scheduling remains complicated because the International Cricket Council is still reviewing the future structure of the World Test Championship.
England already has a packed cricket schedule planned for 2027, including a major Ashes series against Australia. Pakistan and New Zealand are also expected to tour England for white ball matches during the same year.
Despite the busy calendar, ECB officials are seriously considering a short Nepal tour because of the country’s growing cricket popularity and passionate fan base. The potential series could become a landmark moment for Nepal cricket and further boost the sport’s expansion across Asia.
