Pakistani security forces have successfully neutralized 11 India-sponsored terrorists during two separate intelligence-based operations in the Kharan and Washuk districts of Balochistan. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the actions took place on September 6 and 7 after intelligence reports indicated the presence of militants linked to the Indian proxy group known as Fitna al-Hindustan.
On September 6, the militants tried to set up a roadblock in Kharan district with the clear aim of disrupting local traffic and creating chaos. Security personnel responded quickly, intercepted the group, and engaged them in a direct confrontation. Eight terrorists were killed in that encounter.
A day later, on September 7, forces targeted a reported terrorist hideout in the Washuk district. Troops effectively stormed the location and, after an intense exchange of fire, eliminated three more militants. During the operation, security personnel recovered a massive cache of 2.9 tonnes of explosives that the group had been using to manufacture improvised explosive devices.
ISPR stated that sanitisation efforts are still continuing in the area to ensure no remaining India-sponsored terrorists are left behind. The military emphasized that these actions form part of the broader Azm-e-Istehkam campaign. This national counter-terrorism initiative was approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan and is designed to completely eliminate foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from Pakistan.
The country has seen a noticeable rise in militant activity, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in 2021. According to data from the Centre for Research and Security Studies, these two provinces accounted for nearly 96 percent of all violence-related fatalities in the second quarter of 2026. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest number of deaths and incidents, while Balochistan followed closely behind as a major hotspot of unrest.
Officials reiterated that the ongoing operations will continue at full pace until the threat of externally backed terrorism is fully dismantled. The successful neutralization of these 11 militants and the recovery of a large quantity of explosives mark another significant step in securing the region and protecting local communities from further violence.
