Former Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has called for an end to ongoing protests and sit-ins in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), stressing that dialogue remains the best path toward resolving political differences and restoring stability in the region.

Chairing a high level meeting in Lahore to review the political and administrative situation in AJK, Nawaz Sharif expressed concern over recent developments and said that the current circumstances should not have reached this stage. He emphasized that all stakeholders must work together to protect peace, democratic values, and constitutional rights.

According to party officials, the meeting focused on the growing tensions in AJK following recent protests and political disputes. Nawaz Sharif stated that political and public concerns should always be addressed through constitutional and democratic channels. He urged political parties, the AJK government, and the federal government to engage in constructive discussions that can lead to lasting solutions.

The PML-N president highlighted the importance of tolerance, unity, and harmony, noting that peaceful dialogue is essential for maintaining stability in the region. He said that meaningful negotiations between all parties could help ease tensions and create an environment where development and public welfare can continue without disruption.

During the meeting, participants expressed grief over the loss of lives in recent incidents and offered prayers for those who passed away. Nawaz Sharif reiterated that his party has consistently supported the constitutional rights and development needs of the people of AJK.

Speaking on the broader Kashmir issue, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s long standing position that the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) should be granted their right to self determination in line with United Nations resolutions. He praised the sacrifices made by the Kashmiri people and encouraged them to maintain their strong connection with Pakistan while pursuing their goals through peaceful means.

Nawaz Sharif also appreciated Federal Minister Amir Muqam for his role in managing election campaigns in Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir. Senior PML-N leaders and representatives from the party’s AJK chapter attended the meeting.
