Pakistan’s security forces have claimed a major success after foiling two separate infiltration attempts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing 13 militants during operations in Mohmand and North Waziristan. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the incidents took place on April 29 and 30, when militants allegedly tried to enter Pakistan from across the border.
In the first operation, security forces detected the movement of a group of militants in Mohmand district. The military’s media wing said troops responded quickly and engaged the group with precision. As a result, eight militants were killed during the encounter. ISPR described the operation as effective and said the troops acted with skill to stop the infiltration attempt before the group could advance further.
In a second incident in North Waziristan, another group of militants attempted to cross into Pakistan. Security personnel reportedly intercepted them and a heavy exchange of fire followed. During the clash, five more militants were killed. Officials said both operations show that Pakistan’s forces remain alert and prepared to counter threats along sensitive border areas.
The military also repeated its criticism of the Afghan Taliban government, saying it has failed to ensure proper border management on its side. ISPR stated that Afghan soil should not be allowed to be used by militants for launching attacks inside Pakistan. It also urged Afghan authorities to fulfil their responsibilities and prevent the involvement of their citizens in acts of terrorism.
Following the operations, sanitisation activities were launched in the surrounding areas to make sure no other militants were hiding nearby. The statement added that Pakistan’s broader counterterrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam will continue with full force. Officials stressed that the mission of security forces and law enforcement agencies remains clear, which is to eliminate foreign-sponsored terrorism and protect the country’s borders from further threats
