The Pakistan Cricket Board has taken strict disciplinary action against Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani, banning him from the next two editions of the Pakistan Super League. The decision came after the player withdrew from the PSL 2026 despite having already agreed to participate.
Muzarabani was expected to represent Islamabad United in the upcoming season. However, he pulled out at the last moment after signing with Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League. This sudden change triggered serious concerns within the PCB regarding professional commitments and contractual integrity.
According to the PCB, once a player accepts key terms such as payment structure and participation details, a binding agreement is formed. The board emphasized that backing out without a valid reason damages the credibility of franchise leagues and undermines trust among stakeholders. As a result, Muzarabani has been declared ineligible for the next two PSL seasons, effective immediately.
The board also highlighted that professional cricket relies heavily on trust and consistency. When players engage in conflicting commitments, it creates uncertainty for franchises and disrupts team planning. The PCB made it clear that such actions cannot be overlooked, as they set a negative precedent for future engagements.
This is not an isolated case. Recently, players like Dasun Shanaka and Spencer Johnson also opted out of PSL commitments to join IPL teams. These repeated incidents have raised concerns about player loyalty and league priorities.
