Israel has launched its most intense airstrikes on Lebanon since the conflict with Hezbollah began, despite a temporary pause in attacks by the group under the broader US Iran ceasefire framework. The strikes caused widespread destruction across Beirut, the Bekaa Valley, and southern Lebanon, raising serious concerns about the stability of the region.

According to Lebanon’s health authorities, more than 80 people were killed, including several medical workers, while hundreds were injured. The attacks targeted over 100 locations, including what Israel described as Hezbollah command centers. However, many of the strikes also hit civilian populated areas, leading to significant casualties and damage.

Eyewitnesses reported chaotic scenes in Beirut, where civilians rushed to transport the injured due to a shortage of ambulances. Hospitals quickly became overwhelmed, prompting urgent calls for blood donations and medical assistance. Firefighters and emergency responders struggled to control fires and rescue victims trapped under debris.

Despite Hezbollah’s decision to pause its attacks, Israeli officials stated that operations in Lebanon would continue, claiming that the ceasefire does not apply to the Lebanese front. This stance has created tensions, as Lebanese leaders and international observers view the strikes as a violation of ceasefire efforts.

Hezbollah representatives have strongly condemned the attacks, warning that continued aggression could have serious consequences for ongoing peace negotiations. Meanwhile, global leaders, including France’s President, have called for Lebanon to be included in any comprehensive ceasefire agreement.

The humanitarian situation continues to worsen, with over 1.2 million people displaced and thousands seeking shelter in schools and public spaces. Residents expressed growing frustration and fear, with many hoping for a permanent ceasefire to end the ongoing suffering.

As diplomatic efforts continue, the situation remains fragile. The recent escalation highlights the urgent need for inclusive peace agreements that address all affected regions to ensure lasting stability in the Middle East.
