Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has stated that any violence in Pakistan triggered by events in other countries will not be tolerated.
He made these remarks during a meeting with ulema from the Ahl-e-Tasheeh community in Rawalpindi, where discussions focused on national security and the role of religious scholars in maintaining social harmony.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief highlighted the critical role of ulema in promoting unity, tolerance, and national cohesion, especially in countering misinformation, sectarian narratives, and externally backed destabilisation efforts.
Field Marshal Munir also briefed participants on Pakistan’s proactive diplomatic efforts aimed at regional de-escalation. He stressed that religious sentiments must not be misused to incite violence, reiterating clearly that such actions would not be accepted.
The participating ulema strongly condemned violence in the name of religion and expressed their commitment to peace and stability. They also extended full support to law enforcement agencies in maintaining order across the country.
Referring to Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, the army chief underscored that Pakistan will not allow Afghan soil to be used for terrorism against its citizens. He reaffirmed the country’s resolve to eliminate terrorist networks and infrastructure through precise, intelligence-based operations, wherever they may be.
He further emphasized that the Afghan Taliban must ensure that their territory is not used for attacks against Pakistan, reinforcing Islamabad’s firm stance on cross-border terrorism.
