Authorities have confirmed that the family of PTI founder Imran Khan has received his medical report from officials at Adiala jail, bringing clarity to concerns surrounding his recent health treatment. The confirmation was made by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, who said Central Jail Rawalpindi authorities formally handed over the report.
The development follows heightened political tension after Imran Khan was shifted from Adiala jail to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) last month for an eye-related medical procedure. At the time, the information minister had stated that the former prime minister underwent a 20-minute medical procedure. Still, limited details led to speculation and protests by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, which accused authorities of concealing facts about his health.
According to details now revealed, the Imran Khan medical report was prepared by senior medical professionals at PIMS after a comprehensive assessment. The report states that Imran Khan Niazi, aged 74, complained of reduced vision in his right eye. A qualified ophthalmologist conducted a complete examination at Adiala jail, including slit lamp examination, fundoscopy, intraocular pressure measurement, essential laboratory tests, and optical coherence tomography of the retina.
Following these evaluations, doctors diagnosed him with right central retinal vein occlusion, a condition affecting blood flow in the retina. Based on the findings, hospital-based treatment and follow-up were recommended. The report confirms that Khan was then transported to PIMS for the advised procedure.
Medical officials stated that the treatment was carried out in the operating theatre under standard sterile protocols and continuous monitoring. The entire procedure was completed smoothly in approximately 20 minutes, with no complications reported. During the process, Khan remained visually stable and was discharged with routine post-procedure care instructions.
The medical report was officially issued by PIMS Executive Director Professor Dr Rana Imran Sikandar, lending further credibility to the findings. The disclosure is expected to ease speculation surrounding Imran Khan’s health, though political debate around his detention and treatment continues.
