A tragic Colombian plane crash has claimed the lives of all 15 people on board after a small aircraft went missing in the northeastern region of the country. Colombian authorities confirmed that no survivors were found after search teams located the wreckage in a remote and difficult area near the border with Venezuela.

The aircraft was carrying 13 passengers and two crew members and had departed from the border city of Cucuta. It was scheduled to land in the nearby city of Ocana, but contact with air traffic control was lost shortly before its expected arrival time. According to officials, security and emergency search protocols were activated immediately after communication was cut off.

The crash occurred in a mountainous region known for unpredictable weather conditions. Large parts of the area are also affected by security challenges, as it is known to have the presence of the National Liberation Army, one of Colombia’s most active armed groups. These factors complicated both the search operation and access to the crash site.

Authorities confirmed that one lawmaker and one legislative candidate were among the passengers. The news has caused deep concern across the country, especially within political circles. Local parliamentarian Wilmer Carrillo expressed sorrow over the incident and urged patience while awaiting official findings from aviation authorities.

The aircraft involved was identified as a Beechcraft 1900, a twin propeller plane operated by private charter company SEARCA on behalf of the state airline Satena. Officials stated that the plane was operating a routine domestic route when the incident occurred.

Investigators are now working to determine the cause of the crash, examining factors such as weather conditions, terrain challenges, and possible technical issues. Aviation authorities have emphasized that a full investigation will be carried out to establish what led to the deadly incident.

The Colombia plane crash has once again highlighted the risks associated with flying in regions that combine rough geography with volatile weather. As families mourn their loved ones, the nation waits for answers while authorities continue recovery and investigation efforts.
