The Full Court, led by Chief Justice Yahya Afridi, held a detailed meeting to discuss the impact of the 27th Constitutional Amendment, especially after the recent resignations of two senior judges. According to sources, the majority firmly rejected the idea of en masse resignation, which had been suggested by one of the judges as a unified institutional response.

Around 13 judges attended the meeting, while several others, including Justice Aminuddin Khan, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Aamir Farooq, and Justice Baqir Najafi, were absent due to their nomination to the Federal Constitutional Court under the new amendment. Judges Muneeb Akhtar, Ayesha Malik, and Musarrat Hilali also skipped the meeting due to personal reasons.

During the discussion, some judges expressed sadness over recent resignations and stressed the need for a clear institutional response to the amendment. A few suggested writing a formal letter to the government, but the chief justice disagreed, stating that judges should communicate concerns directly with him. He reminded the court that the judiciary holds the power of judicial review, but cannot prevent parliament from exercising its legislative authority.

Despite repeated calls for a collective stance, the majority opposed the idea of mass resignation. A senior judge argued that mass resignation was the only meaningful symbolic response, but the proposal did not gain support.

The meeting concluded with unanimous approval of the Supreme Court Amendment Rules 2025, marking a procedural step forward amid ongoing constitutional debate.
