Pakistan today observes the 74th death anniversary of Shaheed-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan, the country’s first Prime Minister and one of the most influential figures in its early history. His vision, integrity, and leadership continue to inspire generations as the nation pays tribute to his remarkable legacy.

Born in Karnal in 1895, Liaquat Ali Khan completed his early education in India before graduating from Aligarh Muslim University. His academic excellence and passion for nation-building led him to Oxford University in England, where he refined his political insight and leadership qualities.

Upon his return to the subcontinent, Liaquat Ali Khan became one of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s closest allies, playing a crucial role in the Pakistan Movement. His unwavering commitment and service to the cause of Muslim independence earned him the honorable title “Shaheed-e-Millat,” meaning Martyr of the Nation.

As Pakistan’s first Prime Minister, he laid the groundwork for the nation’s political and economic framework, emphasizing unity, faith, and discipline as guiding principles. His efforts in building strong national institutions and promoting integrity in governance set the foundation for Pakistan’s early progress.

Tragically, Liaquat Ali Khan’s life was cut short when he was assassinated in 1951 during a public gathering at Company Bagh, Rawalpindi, later renamed Liaquat Bagh in his memory. Today, Pakistan honors his dedication, patriotism, and service, celebrating a leader whose ideals continue to shape the nation’s identity.
