Field Marshal Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi have wrapped up a full day of high level talks in Tehran. The visit formed part of Pakistan’s push to ease the ongoing US Iran standoff and support steps toward lasting regional calm.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations, the two Pakistani officials held a series of meetings aimed at preventing further escalation, keeping the Strait of Hormuz open, and finding a way to end the conflict. Field Marshal Asim Munir sat down with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Supreme Leader’s representative Mohsen Rezaei, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.
Talks focused on regional peace and practical routes to a negotiated settlement. Iranian leaders publicly thanked Pakistan for its constructive role and sincere efforts to promote dialogue, de escalation, and a peaceful outcome.
Pakistan has tried for months to act as a bridge between Washington and Tehran. Earlier this year the government helped arrange a short ceasefire and later an interim understanding known as the Islamabad Memorandum. Fighting later resumed, raising fresh worries that the crisis could widen.
The latest visit comes at a sensitive moment. The United States is preparing what officials call the toughest sanctions yet on Iran, while Tehran has warned of possible military responses. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has already slowed sharply, adding pressure on global energy markets. Iran’s economy, already under strain from previous sanctions, faces further hardship from damaged infrastructure and disrupted trade.
Field Marshal Asim Munir was received on arrival by Iran’s Interior Minister and senior civil and military officials. Both sides stressed the need to lower tensions and keep communication channels open. Pakistan continues to believe that sustained diplomacy offers the best path to stability in a region already marked by heavy loss of life and economic damage.
The day long engagement underlines Islamabad’s consistent message that dialogue remains essential if the current deadlock is to be broken and broader regional security restored.
