A detailed medical report from Adiala jail claims that former prime minister Imran Khan has seen major improvement in his affected eye. According to the document submitted to the Supreme Court, his vision has almost returned to normal following treatment by top ophthalmologists in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
The two-page report was filed by the jail superintendent and covers both Imran Khan’s health condition and the meetings he has held inside the prison. The 73-year-old PTI founder has been in custody since August 2023. He was earlier diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion, a serious eye problem. The latest update states that after specialised care, one of his eyes has nearly regained normal function.
Jail authorities also shared a summary of 39 specialist check-ups carried out between November 2023 and August 2026. Medical officers examine his food and drinks three times a day and keep regular records of all consultations. Government doctors have examined him on multiple occasions, and the records remain with the prison administration.
The report further notes that Imran Khan and his wife meet every Tuesday under existing jail rules. A total of 84 such meetings have taken place so far. Lawyer Salman Safdar met him on two occasions in 2026. The superintendent also mentioned that an earlier court order restricting media interaction after meetings was allegedly violated, and claimed that some discussions inside the jail were being used to influence public opinion on the judiciary and other institutions.
Separately, recent medical notes from early August provide additional details about his overall health. A cardiologist recorded blood pressure of 140/100 and a pulse of 50, while noting complaints of headaches and anxiety. The doctor suggested more family meetings, newspapers and television access to help ease mental stress. A four-member medical board that examined him a few days later found his blood pressure at 140/80 and pulse at 54. His ECG and echocardiogram showed no major abnormalities. The board recommended daily walking and greater mental relief through family contact, newspapers, television and books, but ruled out the need for further cardiac tests.
A Supreme Court bench is scheduled to hear the matter concerning his health and prison meetings. The latest jail report presents an official account that Imran Khan’s eye condition has improved significantly while outlining ongoing medical supervision and meeting arrangements at Adiala jail.
