Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eliminating terrorism in Balochistan, stressing that the country’s civil and military leadership remains united in safeguarding national security. He made these remarks while chairing a Provincial Apex Committee meeting under the National Action Plan (NAP) in Quetta.
The high level meeting reviewed the latest security situation in Balochistan following a series of recent terrorist incidents. Senior government officials, military leadership, and heads of law enforcement agencies attended the session to assess the challenges and discuss strategies for strengthening security across the province.
The prime minister expressed deep concern over the recent attacks, describing the incidents as serious threats to national stability. He praised the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians for their sacrifices in defending the country against terrorism.
According to official figures shared during the meeting, 54 terrorists were killed in security operations carried out after three major attacks in Balochistan. The attacks also resulted in the martyrdom of 42 individuals, including security personnel and civilians.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan would continue its fight against terrorist organizations until the country is completely free from the threat of extremism. He emphasized that the entire nation stands alongside the armed forces in this ongoing campaign against terrorism.
The prime minister also repeated Pakistan’s position that terrorist groups are receiving external support and claimed that Afghan territory is being used to launch attacks inside Pakistan. He further said that the country’s recent diplomatic successes have frustrated hostile elements seeking to destabilize the region.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the premier said that all available resources will be utilized to strengthen national security, eliminate terrorism, and create conditions for sustainable economic growth and long term prosperity.
The meeting was attended by Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir, Balochistan Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti, and senior officials from Pakistan’s security and law enforcement institutions.
