A major diplomatic breakthrough has emerged as US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian officially signed a historic agreement aimed at ending months of conflict across the Middle East. The agreement marks the beginning of a new phase of negotiations focused on long term peace, economic recovery, and nuclear cooperation between the two countries.

The memorandum of understanding was signed after intensive diplomatic efforts and is set to take effect immediately. One of the first measures under the agreement is the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global shipping route that carries a significant portion of the world’s oil supplies. In return, the United States has agreed to lift its naval blockade and ease restrictions that had severely impacted Iran’s economy.

A key component of the agreement involves Iran’s nuclear programme. Tehran has agreed to address concerns regarding its enriched uranium stockpiles through future negotiations and international oversight mechanisms. Both sides will now enter a 60 day negotiation period to work toward a comprehensive final settlement.

The agreement also provides significant economic incentives for Iran. The United States has committed to waiving certain oil related sanctions, allowing Iran to increase exports and improve access to international markets. In addition, a $300 billion reconstruction fund, backed by regional allies, is expected to be released once a final agreement is reached on nuclear and security matters.

Supporters of the deal view it as a major step toward reducing tensions and restoring stability across the region. However, critics argue that several difficult issues remain unresolved, particularly regarding nuclear oversight, sanctions relief, and long term security guarantees.

The agreement has also attracted global attention because of its potential impact on energy markets, regional diplomacy, and international security. Oil prices reacted sharply to developments surrounding the negotiations, reflecting the importance of stability in the Middle East for the global economy.

While the signing represents a significant milestone, analysts note that the success of the process will ultimately depend on whether both sides can successfully negotiate and implement a comprehensive final agreement over the coming months.
