The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rain, thunderstorms, dust storms, and strong winds across several parts of the country until June 13, warning residents to stay alert as heavy downpours and hailstorms may affect multiple regions.

According to the Met Office, a western weather system is expected to enter the upper parts of Pakistan on June 11 and remain active for several days. At the same time, moisture laden currents from the Arabian Sea are likely to move into central and northern areas, increasing the intensity of weather activity.

Several cities in Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Okara, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Multan, and Dera Ghazi Khan, are expected to receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds. Some locations may also experience isolated heavy rainfall and hailstorms.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, weather conditions are expected to remain unstable in areas such as Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Dir, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Bannu, Kohat, and North and South Waziristan. Similar weather activity is also forecast for Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, where heavy rain may occur in some mountainous regions.

The PMD has warned that intense rainfall could trigger urban flooding in low lying areas of major cities, particularly Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Faisalabad. There is also a risk of flash floods in vulnerable locations and landslides in hilly regions of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Kashmir.

Authorities have also cautioned that strong winds, lightning, and hailstorms may damage weak structures, including solar panels, billboards, and electricity poles. Farmers have been advised to take protective measures for standing crops, while tourists and travelers are encouraged to avoid unnecessary journeys during the forecast period.

The PMD has urged citizens and relevant authorities to remain vigilant and follow safety precautions to minimize risks associated with the expected severe weather conditions.
