Former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed is expected to continue in his role as Pakistan Test head coach for the upcoming tours of the West Indies and England, according to reports emerging from cricket sources. The decision comes despite Pakistan’s disappointing performance during the recent Bangladesh tour, where the national side suffered a historic 2-0 series defeat and endured its first-ever Test whitewash against Bangladesh on their home soil.

Sarfaraz took charge of the Test team for the Bangladesh series, marking his first assignment as head coach. Although the results did not go in Pakistan’s favour, it appears that the Pakistan Cricket Board is willing to back him for the upcoming challenges in the longer format.

Meanwhile, uncertainty continues to surround the future of Shan Masood as Pakistan’s Test captain. While no final decision has been announced, sources indicate that Masood remains under serious consideration for selection on both tours and could still retain the leadership role.

Masood has represented Pakistan in 46 Test matches and has captained the national side in 16 Tests. Under his leadership, Pakistan has played seven Test series, securing only one series victory, losing four, and drawing two. His overall record has led to ongoing discussions regarding the future direction of the Test team.

Reports also suggest that Salman Ali Agha, Pakistan’s current T20I captain, is expected to be included in the Test squad for the England tour. The all-rounder is set to experience his first Test tour of England and is believed to have strong support within the Pakistan Cricket Board’s leadership group.

Masood’s previous experience in English conditions, including county cricket leadership roles with Yorkshire and Derbyshire, could prove valuable during the challenging tour. His familiarity with local conditions and media expectations remains one of the factors being considered by selectors.

Pakistan are scheduled to begin their Test campaign against the West Indies in late July before heading to England for a three-match Test series in August and September. Official announcements regarding the captaincy and final squad are expected in the coming weeks.
