Pakistan is set to achieve another significant milestone in international sports as the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has announced the hosting of two consecutive ITF W15 Women’s Futures Tournaments in Islamabad in October 2026.
The tournaments will begin on October 5, 2026, and will take place ahead of the prestigious Billie Jean King Cup, providing a valuable platform for Pakistani female tennis players to compete at an international level without leaving the country.
This will be the first time in Pakistan’s history that two back-to-back ITF W15 tournaments for women are organized locally. The initiative reflects the PTF’s ongoing commitment to strengthening women’s tennis and creating more opportunities for talented athletes to gain global exposure.
PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi said the federation has already created numerous opportunities for male players through international tournaments and is now focused on supporting women’s tennis. He highlighted that these events will allow players to earn valuable ranking points while reducing the financial burden of international travel.
Several promising Pakistani players are expected to benefit from the tournaments, including Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab, Soha Ali, Romaisa Malik, Bismal Zia, Meheq Khokhar, Zunaisha Noor, Zainab Ali Raja, Fatima Ali Raja, and Laibah Durab. The competitions will help them gain experience against international opponents and improve their preparation for future global events.
The Pakistan Women’s Tennis Association, established in 2024, continues to play an important role in promoting women’s participation in tennis. Association President Asma Khawar Khawaja stated that hosting these tournaments will strengthen Pakistan’s standing in international tennis and contribute to developing future champions.
Meanwhile, PTF Secretary General Col Zia-ud-Din Tufail described the hosting of two consecutive international events as a major achievement that will provide local athletes with increased international exposure.
The tournaments are expected to boost the profile of women’s tennis in Pakistan and inspire a new generation of players to pursue the sport professionally.
