Karachi residents in several parts of the city have expressed growing frustration over extended electricity outages, demanding an immediate end to unannounced load shedding. The prolonged power cuts have disrupted daily routines, affected businesses, and created serious hardships for citizens during the hot weather.
According to residents, electricity outages in many areas have exceeded 12 hours a day, making it difficult for families and shop owners to carry out their normal activities. People living in Orangi Town, Korangi, Lyari, Mauripur, Lines Area, Quaidabad, Malir, Manghopir, Keamari, Surjani Town, and New Karachi reported frequent and lengthy power interruptions.
Residents of Soldier Bazaar, Hawksbay Road, and Gulshan-e-Maymar also complained about continuous outages that have affected household chores, water supply systems, and business operations. Many citizens said the situation has become unbearable as temperatures continue to rise.
In several affected areas, residents staged protests against load shedding, urging authorities and power providers to take immediate action. Demonstrations were reported in places such as Orangi Town, where citizens voiced their concerns over the ongoing electricity crisis.
Some residents from Orangi Town, Baldia Town, and nearby localities claimed that electricity remained unavailable for two to three days in certain areas, further increasing public anger. Citizens have called on the relevant authorities to ensure a stable power supply and eliminate unannounced outages that create uncertainty and inconvenience.
Meanwhile, K-Electric rejected claims that it was carrying out load shedding for more than 10 hours. The utility company stated that power interruptions in some areas were linked to issues related to the non-payment of electricity bills. K-Electric maintained that its load management system is implemented according to established policies and denied reports of excessive outages.
Residents, however, continue to demand a reliable electricity supply and immediate relief from prolonged power cuts across Karachi.
