Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed hope that Pakistan will host another round of Iran US peace talks very soon as diplomatic efforts continue to reduce tensions in the Middle East. The premier praised US President Donald Trump for his efforts to promote peace and maintain communication with regional leaders during a sensitive time for global diplomacy.
In a statement shared on X, PM Shehbaz said President Trump held a productive telephone conversation with leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkiye, Egypt, the UAE, Jordan, and Pakistan regarding the ongoing regional situation and peace negotiations involving Iran and the United States. The prime minister appreciated the role of Field Marshal Asim Munir, who represented Pakistan during the discussions and contributed actively to the mediation process.
According to the premier, the talks created an important opportunity to exchange views on how to move peace efforts forward and bring long term stability to the region. He reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue playing a sincere and constructive role in promoting dialogue between both sides.
President Trump also stated that negotiations between the United States and Iran had made encouraging progress and that a broader understanding was close to finalisation. However, some reports from Iranian media questioned certain claims related to the Strait of Hormuz and ongoing agreements.
Pakistan has remained deeply involved in diplomatic mediation since tensions escalated earlier this year after military strikes and retaliatory actions between Iran, Israel, and the United States. Islamabad previously helped broker a temporary ceasefire and hosted direct negotiations between American and Iranian officials.
The Inter Services Public Relations said Field Marshal Asim Munir held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, senior ministers, and military leadership in Tehran. Officials described the discussions as positive and constructive.
The latest diplomatic efforts highlight Pakistan’s growing role as a regional peace facilitator. Government officials remain hopeful that future negotiations hosted in Pakistan could help achieve a lasting agreement between Iran and the United States.
