Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed for a four day official visit to China with the goal of strengthening economic cooperation, strategic relations, and investment opportunities between the two longtime allies. The visit comes at a historic moment as Pakistan and China celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations.

The prime minister left for Hangzhou along with a high level delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and senior officials from various government departments.

According to the Foreign Office, the visit is expected to deepen political trust and expand collaboration in several important sectors including trade, technology, agriculture, infrastructure, and industrial development. During his stay in Hangzhou, PM Shehbaz will chair the Pakistan China B2B Investment Conference, which will focus on information technology, telecom, battery energy storage systems, and agriculture.

The prime minister is also scheduled to meet executives from major Chinese companies and visit the headquarters of Alibaba Group. Officials say several agreements and memorandums of understanding are expected to be signed between Pakistani and Chinese businesses during the trip.

In the second phase of the visit, PM Shehbaz will travel to Beijing where he is expected to hold important meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. Discussions will focus on the future development of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and ways to improve bilateral trade and investment.

The visit is being seen as an important step toward enhancing economic cooperation and regional connectivity between the two countries. Analysts believe the meetings could open new opportunities for Pakistani businesses, technology partnerships, and infrastructure projects.

Pakistan and China have maintained strong diplomatic and strategic relations for decades, often referring to their partnership as an All Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. The current visit aims to further strengthen this long standing friendship and promote mutual economic growth.
