Reports of an alleged Cambridge AS-level mathematics paper leak have raised serious concerns among students, parents, and education authorities across Pakistan. The issue reportedly involved the AS-level Mathematics Paper 9709/52, which students claimed was circulated on social media before the examination officially began on Monday afternoon.
Several candidates told local media that the paper had already been shared online hours before the scheduled 2pm exam. The reports quickly triggered reactions from educational authorities and sparked widespread debate regarding the security of international examinations in the country.
Cambridge International Education did not directly confirm the alleged leak but stated that all such reports are thoroughly investigated. Country Director Uzma Yousuf said the organisation does not comment on individual cases publicly and urged students to rely only on official announcements instead of social media rumours.
Meanwhile, Inter Board Committee of Chairmen Executive Director Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah acknowledged that concerns had been raised and said Cambridge authorities were being contacted for clarification. He described repeated reports of paper leaks as unfortunate and stressed the need for stronger security measures.
The controversy comes shortly after Cambridge previously declared another AS-level mathematics paper invalid following an earlier leak incident. That paper was later rescheduled for a retake examination in June.
Federal Education Minister Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui also ordered an immediate investigation into the latest allegations. He emphasised that students’ futures, transparency, and merit must remain protected at all costs. According to the minister, repeated leaks create unnecessary stress and anxiety for students who prepare honestly and work hard for their examinations.
The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns regarding examination security and the importance of maintaining trust in international academic systems.
