A tragic road accident on the Dalbandin highway in Balochistan’s Chagai district claimed the lives of at least 10 people late Friday night after a passenger car collided head on with a gas bowser. The deadly crash occurred on the busy RCD Highway (N 40), a route connecting Quetta to Taftan and often known for dangerous traffic incidents.

According to local officials, the smaller passenger vehicle was carrying nearly 15 people at the time of the accident and was reportedly overloaded. The collision was extremely severe, causing multiple passengers to die instantly at the scene while several others suffered critical injuries.

Rescue teams and local authorities quickly arrived at the accident site and shifted the injured victims to Prince Fahad Hospital in Dalbandin for emergency treatment. Hospital officials confirmed that at least five injured passengers remain under medical care, with some said to be in critical condition.

DSP Chagai Abid Sherzai stated that police had detained the driver of the larger vehicle and launched a formal investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause of the crash. Initial reports suggest speeding and poor road conditions may have contributed to the tragedy.

The heartbreaking incident once again highlights the growing concerns regarding road safety on the RCD Highway, where fatal accidents continue to occur frequently. Earlier this year, another major collision near Yakmach in Chagai district killed seven people, including women and children.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah also expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the affected families. Authorities have urged drivers to follow traffic rules carefully and avoid overspeeding on remote highways to prevent further tragedies.
