Pakistan’s Khawaja Muhammad Zubair has written a new chapter in esports history by winning the Tekken 8 title at the Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris. The 32-player tournament ran from August 5 to 8, and Zubair walked away with the championship trophy after a flawless performance.
In the grand final, Zubair faced South Korea’s experienced player LowHigh and produced a dominant 5-0 victory. He did not drop a single game, sealing the biggest title of his career in commanding fashion. The win earned him $300,000 in prize money along with 1,000 Club Championship points.
What makes the achievement even more impressive is Zubair’s short international journey. He made his global debut only two months before the event and was eliminated in the group stage. Undeterred, he returned through the Last Chance Qualifier, fought his way back into the main draw, and then defeated several top opponents on his path to the final.
One of the key moments of his run came when he overcame fellow Pakistani star Arslan Ash. Australia’s Yagami finished third while Arslan Ash placed fourth. LowHigh took home $130,000 for second place, Yagami earned $70,000, and Arslan Ash received $50,000.
Zubair competes under the name AG M. Zubair and is now listed as the official Tekken 8 champion of the Esports World Cup. His success adds further strength to Pakistan’s growing reputation as a powerhouse in the fighting game scene, following the earlier international recognition of players like Arslan Ash and Atif Butt.
The victory stands out not only for the prize money but also for the manner in which it was achieved. After navigating the tough qualification route, Zubair rose through the ranks and delivered a clinical final performance against one of the most established names in competitive Tekken. The result marks a major milestone for both the young player and Pakistani esports on the world stage.
